A Few Words About Me

Tacoma Counselor, Bobbi EdwardsI am a mother of two beautiful daughters, and 8 grandchildren.  I love to enjoy the outdoors, whether it be walking in the rain, stomping through mud puddles, listening to the sound of the ocean, or feeling the warmth of sunshine beaming down on my face.  In fact, when I grew up, my backyard was the woods.  I also love to dance and spend time with family and friends.

I live life to the fullest, and believe anything can be accomplished, if the desire is there.

I have been in the counseling field since 1974 when I changed my 20 year career as a computer operator.  I decided I wanted to work with people and not computers, so I went back to college, started in the counseling field and have never looked back.

I love helping others get “unstuck” in their lives and guide them to move forward to become the person they are meant to be, and find balance in their lives.  I help people recognize how their ineffective behaviors are hurtful to themselves and others.  A primary goal of my therapeutic style is allowing people to speak up from themselves, to remind them that they know what they need and how that helps them step into their own personal power!

My Vision

“Follow your heart, but be quiet for awhile first.
Ask questions, then feel the answer.  Learn to trust your heart.”

My hope is to guide people, allowing them to learn to trust themselves and to ask for what they need and want.  To learn how to make healthy choices and to empower themselves to have healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Being a client-centered counselor, I create a safe, collaborative and respectful relationship.  I want people to achieve sensitivity and an awareness of themselves and others, and to become aware of their potential and make healthy choices both personally and professionally.  I want people to have a whole and healthy existence.

I welcome you to explore and bring in new awareness’s into your life.  I strongly encourage you to take an active part in your changes and growth in your life!

  • I’ve seen other counselors in my past and was really surprised at how different Bobbi’s therapy style and technique’s are. I’ve learned how to connect with my feelings (internal child self) while still being in my adult. Discovering my balance has been very helpful. I’ve learned about separation. My balance between who I am as Continue Reading

  • “Being in this therapy has taught me so much about who I was and who I am.  I have learned how to set goals, and not only succeed, but give myself some credit about those accomplishments.  I used to be really dramatic and cry at the drop of a hat.  Today, I am clearer and Continue Reading

  • “I joined Bobbi’s groups to help me through my grieving process after my fathers death.  Not only did I receive the support and love I needed at the time, but in addition, I gathered important tools I use on a daily basis.”

  • “I started seeing Bobbi in March of 2007.  Before this time, I struggled with several issues I had worked on in a 12-step program for many years.  I only got so far and I knew I needed something more.  I had/have many mistaken beliefs that I was unable to change without this type of therapy.  Continue Reading
